OUR PLANS TO KEEP OUR TEAM AND YOU AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE

This page is updated regularly.

19 July 2021:

We are aware that the rules have changed again. It seems never-ending keeping up to date with the latest guidelines and advice and I also take into account team and client feedback.

After a team meeting and considering our local area and the current rates and have decided to continue with our existing covid policy. This means from today we will continue to wear masks and will ask all clients to wear masks unless they are exempt.

Here is a little reminder of our rules:
* We ask everyone to sanitise on arrival and throughout movement in the salon (if you use our facilities)
* Masks/visors are worn by staff and clients (unless exempt)
* Staff continue to wear PPE
* We have increased ventilation in the salon
* We deep clean daily and clean each station between clients

Reminder: We are skin testing all colour clients who have knowingly have covid, coloured their hair at home or exceeded a 12-month period without colour. Call the salon if you need a test as it must be done a minimum of 48 hours prior to any colour work.

Track & Trace
We are no longer legally required to ask clients to scan the NHS QR code upon arrival but we are encouraged to keep the poster and ask clients to do check in as it enables the NHS to break chains of transmission which in turns support businesses to stay open.

HERE FOR YOU
We are keen to support our clients so with this in mind we are keeping Monday, Tuesday and Saturday as our quiet days with less staff and larger spaces between client seating areas. If you ever have a query about visiting the salon please do not hesitate to email or call us.

26 April 2021:

We are pleased to announce that from 27 April our PPE charge has reduced to £1 per client.

15 April 2021:

We are open and it’s great to be back.

Please note our £2 PPE charge is still applicable while we continue with the latest government guidelines.

We have the NHS QR code as you walk in to scan if you have downloaded the app.

Skin testing – We will ask you to come to the salon to have a test for hair or beauty if:

a) You have coloured your hair at home
b) You have knowingly had covid
c) You have not had a colour with us for over six months
d) You are a new colour client

5 April 2021:

Online booking is now open via this website. Our phone lines open from Tuesday 6 April.

31 March 2021 update:

Our stylists have rung all their clients who had appointments in January, February and March. We have left messages when possible if there has been no answer.

23 March 2021 update:

Our stylists are currently ringing all their clients that had appointments in January, February and March to reschedule appointments. If there is no answer we leave an answerphone message, when possible. If you have not heard from us by 31 March please feel free to email us so we can look into this for you.

If you did not have an appointment booked our lines and online booking will re-open on 5 April 2021 We are working longer hours to fit in as many clients as possible.

Please note that if you have coloured your hair at home, not had a colour for six months or had covid you will require a skin test before having your hair coloured at Daniel Gray. Please note skin tests have to be booked in due to social distancing.

22 February 2021 update:

As you may have heard there is a plan that hair salons will be able to open as part of Step two, of a four-step programme, which currently has a date of 12 April.

As this date can change due to be being data-dependent we are not yet in a position to start taking bookings. As soon as the date is confirmed nearer the time we will be in touch.

As always this website and our social media will feature regular updates over the coming weeks.

Following the announcement  of a second national lockdown we have amended our working hours for the next three days to enable all of this week’s clients to get their hair done within the current social distancing rules. We will close at 9pm on Wednesday and hope to reopen early December. We will keep in touch via our website, social media accounts and email.

As always, our measures are continually under review, and we will always trial situations and change them if they do not work safely in the salon.  We have carried out and continue to carry our risk assessments.

We have the NHS QR code as you walk in to scan if you have downloaded the app.

We are allowing extra time for appointments. This extra time allows for our new routine including sterilising at every checkpoint and cleaning all hair utensils with anti bac.

Here is some other information you may find useful:

  • One – way system; we operate a one-way system to enter and exit the salon by splitting the staircase as you enter
  • Clients will be asked to queue outside the salon, adhering to the 2-meter distance, along the salon by the garden. We advise arriving just a minute or two before your appointment as the area is not covered as we are not permitted, under the current guidelines, to offer an official waiting area.
  • When it is time for your appointment you will be collected and guided to your allocated seat for your service.
  • We have a sanitising station at reception. Please ensure you sanitise on entering even if you have just put some on outside. This saves our staff having to ask and ensures everyone in the salon feels reassured.
  • Payments will be taken at your station before you leave. You will also be invited to rebook your next appointment and if you want this is the time to buy products. We accept both card and cash payments.
  • The only clients paying at reception are beauty service clients
  • Ventilation: We will be keeping some doors and windows open to increase ventilation. This means the salon may be cooler than normal and there may be a slight draught. Please consider this and bring an extra layer if you feel the cold or like to be extra warm!
  • Early every morning before we open the salon is professionally cleaned. Throughout the day we continue to clean the with anti-bacterial products.
  • To reassure you our staff continue to wear a visor with mask and an apron. We sanitise and anti bac all tools and stations after each client.
  • We continue to use disposable towels and wash every gown every time  it is used.

Please note that CCTV is now in operation at the salon. If required you can request it to be switched off on your visit.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING OF OUR CLIENTS

Based on guidelines at time of writing we are advised that all clients should enter with:

A face mask or covering

A bag to hold your coat as we are not allowed to hang them up.

Any reading material you may like as we are no longer able to offer magazines.

We offer water and tea/coffee in disposable cups.

As expected we ask all our clients to not come for an appointment if they are showing any Covid 19 symptoms. The safety of our clients and staff is paramount and we are working really hard to maintain these measures. We have had no staff with any symptoms of Covid 19 and some staff have been tested and had negative results which is great news.

CLIENTS WITH COLOUR APPOINTMENTS

If you have coloured your hair at home in-between your last salon visit, you will need a skin test and a strand test before your next appointment.

We have to make sure your hair will not react and that colour won’t cause condition damage to the hair & scalp. Please note a skin test can only be done by appointment.

If you have you had Covid-19 and not coloured your hair at home we still must do a skin test. This is because there is evidence that some people who have sadly had Covid-19 are reacting differently to hair colour – even if it is one they have used before.

Please remember a skin test can only be done by appointment.

If you have concerns or questions please get in touch with a member of our team.
